Multi-Detector Computed Tomography The (CT Scan NeuViz 64) allows us to obtain high-resolution images of the human body with great speed. It enables us to perform highly detailed three-dimensional reconstructions for more accurate diagnoses. Additionally, our equipment has the capability to perform studies with a low radiation dose. Our equipment is duly certified by the Puerto Rico Radiological Health Department and accredited by the ACR. This equipment is operated by a certified healthcare professional.
We have a Neusoft Medical System CT Scan NeuViz 64 Slice. The advantages of this new equipment, in addition to its high resolution, include a much wider opening, allowing us to accommodate patients weighing up to 400 lbs. Additionally, it has the capability to perform studies with a lower radiation dose than usual.
Who cannot have a CT Scan?
For any woman who is pregnant, exposure to X-rays directly affects the embryo or fetus and poses a risk to its development, especially during the first three months of pregnancy.
Any female who suspects she is pregnant should notify our staff prior to undergoing any radiological procedure involving x-ray exposure.
What is the contrast medium used for in the veins?
The CT Scan can be performed with or without contrast, depending on your doctor’s prescription. The intravenous contrast medium (administered through a vein), due to its radiological properties, helps rule out certain pathologies and provides a clearer view of some anatomical areas, particularly those with a high vascular level.
It is important that the patient after the study is well hydrated, drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day (at least 8 glasses), this is to help the elimination of the contrast medium. For the realization of this study requires that you fast for a certain period of time before the procedure.
It is important that you consult us prior to this procedure to see if any other type of preparation is required and if there are any contraindications.
What kind of preparation should the patient have prior to the exam?
Some specialized studies require some type of preparation prior to this; therefore, you should consult with us about the procedure and if there are any contraindications.
** Our staff will assist you and guide you so that you can feel more confident and secure during the exam. At Montehiedra MRI & CT Center the quality of our studies and the treatment of our patients is what counts; that is why we are committed to your health.
Digital Mammography It allows for high-sensitivity images with the ability to see the smallest details, enabling us to detect abnormalities.
Mammography does not prevent breast cancer, but it can save lives if breast cancer is detected as early as possible. Our equipment is duly certified by the Department of Radiological Health of Puerto Rico and accredited by the FDA and ACR. This equipment is operated by a duly certified health professional.
It is recommended that the first mammogram be done between the ages of 35 and 40. After 40, it should be done annually or according to the doctor's recommendation.

What is dynamic digital radiology?
Dynamic Digital Radiology (DDR) is the capture of multiple moving images.
It provides a series of individual digital images acquired at high speed and low dose.
It allows clinicians to observe the dynamic, "movie-like" movement of anatomical structures over the time of the study, enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
The series of movements can be analyzed and quantified with the advanced image processing capability included in the system.
It is also a promising platform for AI - artificial intelligence - applications.
DDR is not fluoroscopy, DDR is an X-ray that moves!
Our X-ray equipment is properly certified by the Puerto Rico Radiological Health Department. It is operated by a healthcare professional duly certified by the Board of Health Professionals.

Sonography It is very important and useful, as it does not use radiation to obtain images. For this reason, it can be performed on patients of any age, including pregnant women. This modality does not use radiation, so it can be used for patients of all ages, including during pregnancy. It allows us to evaluate structures located in deep areas of the human body, such as abdominal organs, as well as more superficial structures like the thyroid, muscles, and tendons.
Throughout all stages of pregnancy, ultrasound can provide valuable information about both the fetus and the mother, as indicated by the clinic.
At Montehiedra MRI & CT Center We also have 2 ultrasound machines available for our patients. We provide our patients with service of the highest quality and a human touch; we have healthcare professionals specialized in the field of Ultrasound, duly certified by the Board of Health Professionals.
We acquired the new Hitachi Aloka ProSound Alpha 10 equipment. The advantages of this new equipment include the ability to obtain high-resolution images more quickly. Its capacity to produce high-resolution images allows for more specific diagnoses.
What kind of preparation should the patient have prior to the exam?
The majority of studies do not require prior preparation. It is important to consult with the staff regarding the referred sonogram to receive the correct instructions and/or preparation if necessary.

Wide Bore MRI
The Wide Bore MRI is designed to provide more space and comfort for patients, while maintaining high image quality. Here are the key features and benefits:
Larger Opening: The Wide Bore MRI features a larger tunnel-like opening. This additional space helps reduce feelings of claustrophobia and makes it more comfortable for patients, especially those with larger body sizes.
Patient Comfort: The wider design is beneficial for patients who may experience anxiety or claustrophobia during the scan.
High-Quality Imaging: The Wide Bore machines feature modern technology, which benefits image resolution and shortens study times.
Accessibility and Versatility: These machines are suitable for a wide range of diagnostic purposes, from assessing sports injuries to detecting various types of cancer. Their versatility and improved patient experience make them a preferred choice.
Anxiety Reduction: The dimensions of the Wide Bore MRI allow the patient to keep their head outside the machine for certain studies, which helps minimize the anxiety associated with enclosed spaces.
In summary, the Wide Bore MRI is a significant advancement in medical imaging, combining patient comfort with high diagnostic accuracy.

MRI is the abbreviation for Images by Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The equipment does not use radiation; it obtains the images of the human body through the use of magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves. Since radio waves are used, you will hear a variety of sounds during the study.
In our facilities we have two MRI equipment, a Close MRI (High Field) of 1.5 T and an Open MRI of 0.23 T. This is why we are committed to the health of our patients. Our equipment is duly certified by the Department of Radiological Health of Puerto Rico and accredited by the ACR. This equipment is operated by a duly certified health professional.
Close MRI – 1.5 T (High Field)
In our facilities we have a 1.5 T (High Field) MRI equipment; which is one of the most used in modern medicine for clinical studies because it allows to obtain high resolution images (High Resolution) and faster. Having the ability to obtain high resolution images gives the opportunity to give a more specific diagnosis. Our equipment is duly certified by the Department of Radiological Health of Puerto Rico and accredited by the ACR. This equipment is operated by a certified health professional.

Es importante que el paciente luego de la realización del estudio se hidrate bien, debes beber al menos 2-3 litros de agua al día (al menos 8 vasos), esto es para ayudar a eliminación del medio de contraste.
It is important that you consult us prior to this procedure in case you require evaluation of your renal function and if there is any type of contraindication.
What kind of preparation should the patient have prior to the exam?
Some specialized studies require some type of preparation prior to this; therefore, you should consult with us about the procedure and if there are any contraindications.
What should the patient wear for an MRI?
The patient should be sufficiently warm, avoiding metals in their clothing; as well as avoiding entering the study area with clothing or metals. The patient is recommended to wear elastic sportswear which is very comfortable, such as cotton sweatshirts.
It is very important that all patients follow the instructions given at the beginning of the study. Once the patient is lying on the stretcher, he/she should not move during the process until it has been completed.
What will the patient hear during the MRI study?
During the MRI study, the patient will be able to hear several noises similar to a hammering. These noises are produced by the use of radiofrequencies, which will sound in different rhythms, and sometimes in time intervals of 3 to 5 minutes each.
How long does an MRI study take?
Each study will last approximately 30 minutes. This time may vary depending on the type of study your doctor prescribed.
What would happen if the patient moves during the study?
This would cause the study to take longer than usual and consequently the images would not be of high quality to provide an accurate diagnosis.
